Interview with Drake Edwards

Q: ”Tell us a bit about yourself, where you come from and what your motivations are?”

A: ”Hey Lyria thanks for the opportunity to speak with you. I along with my twin brother grew up in Ohio. We both played sports in school. Mainly baseball and football. I was one of the smaller guys at my school, was told... you got the heart but not the size. Something I have been told all my life. As for motivations, it sounds cliche and maybe it is, but it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the heart in the dog. Basiclly you tell me I can't do something, I will accept the challenge.”

Q: ”What inspired you to get into the wrestling business?”

A: ”I grew up watching wrestling and was in love instantly. I went around to several indy promotions wanting to get trained.. I wanted to do this! I had several doors slammed in my face with people laughing at me.. You are not big enough... you will get killed... I was close to giving up, but one fed brought me in as a commentator with no guarantees of anything else. I jumped at the chance, and that is how I got into the business, as a commentator. I eventually got trained... and what a ride its been since.”

Q: ”Where did you learn to wrestle? Who was your trainer?”

A: ”I begin to wrestle at DIE, however one of my trainers. was Viola Beaumont. I have also picked things up from several others.”

Q: ”What is your wrestling style?”

A: ”I use a lot of strikes. kicks in particular. My superkick which I call the Dragon Rising has put away several opponents. I am not afraid to do high flying moves either. I am constantly learning and working on new things.. I have stepped up my technical game and been working on submissions... so to try and recap.... I take whatever works and go with it.”

Q: ”What’s your entrance music? Why did you choose it?”

A: ”My current music is"You're Going Down" by Sick Puppies. It gets the blood pumping everytime I hear it. One of the lines is "If one of us is going, one of us is going down" That is how I approach all of my matches... It might be me.. if might be you... but one of us is going down.”

Q: “You are having this Tuesday a very important match at Royal Flush against your own brother, your thoughts about it?”

A: “Its been a long time coming.... he screwed me out of the DIE World Heavyweight Championship last year at Crapshoot. Its been brewing since.... His ego is out of control... think of all the stuff he has done not just to me..... but to Natalie and others..... I am tired of it, and I will not stop until I end him and the "Greatness"

Q: “If you should win this match, do you think that he will see the light and realize his errors?”

A: “That is my hope. I can not stand what he has become. He is so much better then this.

Q: “What is your strategy going into this match? Your brother as far as we know is not a trained wrestler, unlike you. Will this be an advantage and if it is one, how will it effect the match?

A: “My strategy is to use my speed to keep him off balance. Go after him with a fury of strikes and take him down. He is bigger and stronger then I am.. so I can not get in his grasp... I do that... I walk away the winner.”

Q: ”You mentioned that you had a bad time thanks to your brother. But what are your most cherished moment in D.I.E?”

A: ” One of my favorite memories was the night of my first match I was so nervous.. but when you get in that ring... look across to your opponent.. you know you are in for a wild ride. Of course the sweetest moment for me was when I won my first DIE World Heavyweight Championship. What a night that was.”
